(SPEEDWAY 1)ADAM Shields has quit Eastbourne and is set to return to Australia. The Australian’s return to the club in 2013 has not worked out and the Eagles have been granted a short-term facility as they search for a new rider.Eastbourne boss Trevor Geer said: “Adam and the club had high hopes but it was not to be. He has been a fine servant of Eastbourne and I know our fans will still hold him in high regard. In his first spell at Arlington he provided some of the most exciting racing you could wish to see and that is the memory I hope everyone will retain.“We knew that signing Adam was something of a risk. It has not worked out and that is a disappointment all round. On behalf of everyone associated with Eastbourne Speedway, I wish Adam all the best in the future and thank him for his service to the Eagles.”(SPEEDWAY 2)POOLE have re-instated Polish rider Dawid Stachyra having shelved plans to introduce Andrej Lebedev due to the Latvian’s fixture commitments. But the Pirates are now sweating on the fitness of both new recruits Tomas H Jonasson and Przemyslaw Pawlicki who have suffered crashes in continental meetings in recent days.Promoter Matt Ford said: “I have always said that Poole Speedway is a priority and with the fact (Lebedev) would miss some key fixtures for us with his commitments, together with Dawid’s scores, I felt it would be wrong to compromise the club.“Just when I felt that a change of personnel might generate a turn in luck we receive injury news to two riders who haven't even pulled on their Poole racesuits yet! You couldn't script this level of misfortune we are getting.”(SPEEDWAY 3)RYE House have agreed a temporary loan deal with Elite League Lakeside for Robert Mear to line-up for the Rockets in place of broken leg victim Jason Garrity.Mear, who missed the Hammers’ 50-43 win at Belle Vue on Monday with concussion after a motocross accident, spent the 2008 and 2009 seasons in the Premier League at Hoddesdon. He will make his second debut for Rye House in the League Cup fixture against Plymouth on Sunday, with skipper Jason Bunyan also set to return from injury.Rockets boss John Sampford said: “Robert is a rider who can continue to score in the same vein as Jason to keep us up there challenging for silverware. It is good to have a local rider on board who knows the track and can now bring Elite League experience with him in his second spell with the club.”(SPEEDWAY 4)JOE Jacobs has requested a permanent transfer to Glasgow, with whom he has started the current Premier League season on loan from Ipswich. The 19-year-old has impressed the Tigers with his early performances, and he has now handed the Witches a written transfer request.Glasgow boss Sean Courtney said: “Joe has put that into Ipswich promoter Chris Louis, so they’ll either agree a fee or it will go to arbitration and they’ll decide how much Joe is worth and we’ll have to pay that.“I think he appreciates the support he’s getting, from the supporters to the Glasgow promotion, and he’s a young kid, he’s learning his trade. I definitely think he’s got big potential.”(SPEEDWAY 5)COVENTRY Storm have signed motocross star Luke Crang who has recently turned his attention to speedway.Crang will make his debut for the Brandon club’s National League team at Mildenhall on Sunday, replacing Richard Franklin in their line-up.Storm co-boss Blayne Scroggins said: “There were already a couple of other clubs chasing him for a National League spot, and Laurence (Rogers) saw him at King’s Lynn when he was a straight in front of the other Midland Development League riders, so that really confirmed our thoughts.“It’s tough on Richard, and this is always the hardest part of management, but we have to put the team first. We’re not ruling him out, but he needs to get his confidence back and also sort his bike out.”(FIXTURES)TUESDAY MAY 21:PREMIER LEAGUE: Berwick v Newcastle 7.30NATIONAL LEAGUE: Dudley v King’s Lynn 7.30NATIONAL TROPHY: Isle of Wight v Mildenhall 7.30WEDNESDAY MAY 22:SKY SPORTS ELITE LEAGUE: Birmingham v Wolverhampton 7.30, Poole v Lakeside 7.30NATIONAL LEAGUE: King’s Lynn v Isle of Wight OFFTHURSDAY MAY 23:SKY SPORTS ELITE LEAGUE: Swindon v Birmingham 7.30LEAGUE CUP: Ipswich v Plymouth 7.30OZCHEM TROPHY: Sheffield v Dudley 7.45FRIDAY MAY 24:SKY SPORTS ELITE LEAGUE: Lakeside v Coventry 8pmPREMIER LEAGUE: Edinburgh v Scunthorpe 7.30, Plymouth v Leicester 7.15
