Team heads to Donington Park for Superstock action
The RAF Reserves Team, powered by Honda, will be in action this weekend at Donington Park for Round 4 of the National Superstock 1000 championship.
The team travelled from its Road Racing debut at the North West 200, where rider Simon Andrews took 13th place in the opening Superstock race, before the event was cancelled due to appalling weather.
The red, white and blue of the No.6 Fireblade will proudly be on display on the world stage as this round of the series supports the World Superbike championship in its first visit of the season to the UK.
The team has had less than a week to get its Honda Fireblade fully prepared and its set-up altered from the super-fast 'Triangle' circuit of the North West 200 to now suit the flowing nature of Donington.
In a remarkable busy period for the hard-working outfit, the team - run by Lee Hardy Racing - then heads straight to the Isle of Man for its TT debut.
Rider Simon Andrews said: "The NW200 was disappointing as we weren't given the chance to demonstrate our pace. I guess the team and I are approaching Donington Park this weekend with a slight amount of caution due to the fact that we head straight for the TT after our race on Sunday. Still, that will probably all change when the lights go out!"
Team manager Lee Hardy said: "We have learnt a lot in the last few weeks with different set-ups from track to road, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that we might find that result we are looking for this weekend. Simon has rode in some very challenging conditions at the North West so it will nice to just get out there and let off some steam. Donington should hopefully suit the Honda and Simon's riding style and we're looking forward to displaying the RAF Reserves colours on the world stage."
