GREAT Britain Youth co-boss Neil Vatcher says last Saturdays World Under-21 Team Cup qualifier in Poland has to be viewed as a positive experience for his riders. The GB quartet finished fourth in the Gdansk meeting on 14 points, with the hosts in charge on 47 followed by Russia (34) and Sweden (26).Vatcher said: Even though Team GB ran a third or last in all but three of 20 races, the only way we are going to catch up with the rest of Europe is to compete in these meetings, learn from it, and go back next time determined to put on a better show, learning about different set-ups and track conditions.Kyle Howarth put in a brave effort and was unlucky not to have a race win when his engine blew up on the last lap of his second ride when in front. Kyle top-scored with eight, and Ashley Morris, Adam Ellis and Tom Perry all scored two.(SPEEDWAY 2)

EDINBURGH were a single point away from their club record away win on Sunday, with their 61-32 League Cup success at Scottish rivals Glasgow being their biggest on the road against the Tigers. The Monarchs had landed 30-point wins at Motherwell in 1951 and Newcastle in 1961, and their emphatic Ashfield victory included a paid maximum for skipper Derek Sneddon - although they also picked up an injury with Mitchell Davey suffering a broken wrist.Edinburgh chief Alex Harkess said: When we started with three 5-1s, I just wondered to myselfwheres this going? Every one of them went there wanting to be a success, and every one of them was.I asked captain Derek if hed ever had an away maximum before and he replied quicklyNever! So special congratulations to him.

GLASGOW boss Sean Courtney says team changes could be on the cards after the Tigers were humbled at home by local rivals Edinburgh.Joe Screen picked up almost half of the Tigers points, scoring 14 in a 32-61 defeat, and Courtney described it as his worst day involved with the club.He said: They go out there and do what they can and sometimes it's not the best, and today and a few away meetings it has shown that we aren't strong enough. There's every chance there will be a restructuring of the team. It is hard in the pits, trying to motivate riders, but people have to self-motivate themselves. Joe Screen has been carrying the team really, and I have to take my hat off to him.(SPEEDWAY 4)
