BRC Scottish Rally, Simpson and Jackson bound for Scotland

The SIMS Rally Team continue their NGK British Championship ChallengeCampaign this weekend, when Tony Simpson and Jonathan Jackson make the tripNorth to contest the 81 year old RSAC Scottish Rally in their Ford Fiesta.Following a troubled opening couple of rounds, namely the Pirelli and JimClark, the intrepid duo, are looking forward to the forests in and aroundthe picturesque town of Dumfries. The Scottish forests such as Windy Hill,Ae and Loch Grannoch will provide a stern test for the pair, but recenttesting by the team has left them very confident ahead of what will be thethird round of the NGK BRCC Challenge.Following a recent test Tony said, "We have been to Mick Jones and testedthe car to iron out the electrical issues that have cost us dearly so farthis year. I am delighted with the way it went, and certain that we haveeliminated the issue we had. We were able to concentrate in the afternoon onfine tuning the set up of the car for the Scottish stages."With 61 Stage miles ahead this weekend, it will be a typical Scottish testfor the pair and one that Jonathan is ready for. He said earlier this week,"I have been working very hard to be ready for this weekend. This round willbe demanding for all the crews, and we will be ready for whatever the eventthrows at us. The Jim Clark was disappointing, but Tony and I have gelled, and able to have a laugh in the car, and that really helps us work as ateam."The only stage that Tony has previously competed on, is the Shaw Hill in2002 and 2003. With that in mind, his preparation has been very thoroughthis week and he added, "The stages from what I have seen look to be ingreat condition this year, and will be very fast. For us, to be honest wewill have to concentrate on the Ae stage, as it is run twice, and for usalmost makes up a third of our total mileage that we will contest. There isno doubt Jonathan and I are looking forward to be back on gravel, and we aregoing to go and enjoy it, that's for sure. I have not been back there sinceI did my last rally for Volkswagen Racing in a Polo GTi in 2003, but I dohave good memories of the stages."With a tough opening couple of events so far this year, the SIMS RALLY Teamhave been very thorough in their preparation of the Team and Car for thisweekend and the demands of one of the toughest round in the British RallyChampionship. Tony and Jonathan have prepared very well for this event, andno one would doubt that they intend to try as hard as they can for a goodresult.
