WORKINGTON now have the only remaining 100 per cent record in the Premier League and have gone top of the tableafter a dramatic 49-41 win at Redcar on Thursday. The Comets came back from six points down on the night to secure the maximum four from the meeting thanks to a last-heat 5-1 from Richard Lawson and Rusty Harrison, inflicting the Bears first home defeat of the competition.Manager Tony Jackson said: It was a fantastic team performance and was the perfect way to bounce back from our defeat at Edinburgh last weekend. To go away from home and provide the race winner in eleven of the last twelve races was something special and it showed what we could do when we were able to track a full team of seven riders for the first time since mid-April.I was impressed how the whole team adapted to the changing track conditions as the night wore on and we now need to build on last nights performance against a solid Redcar side as there are plenty more tough matches ahead in what is proving to be a very competitive league this season.(SPEEDWAY 2)
IPSWICH moved up to fourth position in the Premier League with a convincing 63-29 home win over Glasgow.Home No.1 Ben Barker secured a 15-point maximum, often working his way through from the back, whilst Rohan Tungate and Cameron Heeps both also gave unbeaten displays.Ipswich boss Pete Simmons said: That will boost the team's confidence ahead of two important away meetings this weekend (at Workington and Glasgow). I have targeted them to get at least one point from each of them and I have every confidence, based on tonight's performance, that my target is definitely achievable.(SPEEDWAY 3)
RYE House have signed Swedish youngster Pontus Aspgren as a temporary replacement for broken leg victim Jason Garrity.Aspgren, who will join on loan from Wolverhampton, is set to make his Rockets debut at Plymouth next Friday. The Hoddesdon side made the move after receiving news that Garritys injury is taking longer than expected to heal, although they have confirmed he will regain his place when fit.Manager John Sampford said: Pontus has been eager to ride for the Rockets for at least two years, and was first introduced to us by Linus Sundstrom, so we know he will be giving this opportunity everything he has got to prove to us that we should have picked him earlier.

MILDENHALL Chairman Kevin Jolly is relishing the clubs staging of the National League Pairs at West Row on Sundayand is predicting an open contest. The Fen Tigers normal admission prices apply for a meeting which brings together many of the stars of the league, with all eight clubs represented.Jolly said: I think we have one of the best open meetings anyone could hope for. Eight pairs all in with a chance of winning, and many of the best riders the National League has to offer. There is sure to be some cracking racing on a well-prepared surface, all we need is for the weather to be kind and at the moment the forecast looks good! We are hoping for a big crowd and of course would like to see our pair of Dan (Halsey) and Josh (Bates) retain the trophy for the Fen Tigers, but as I say you could make a case for any one of the pairs, it's that tight to call.

STOKE chiefs Dave Tattum and Malcom Vasey have issued an apology to supporters for recent performances from their team. The Potters have suffered heavy defeats at Kings Lynn and the Isle of Wight, and at home to Coventry, and the club say changes are on the cards if there is no immediate improvement.A statement read: It is far from too late to make changes and complete a strong end to the season, and our eyes and ears are alert to a number of possibilities, some of which we would be able to move quickly on if we chose to do so.Today sees us in a watershed situation and it must be made clear at this time that it is up to our present riders to deter us from taking action, and there is only one way that they can be certain to do that. To our supporters, we would appeal for them to be patient and dont lose faith as we are acutely aware of our recent poor form and will resist nothing to put that right.(FIXTURES)
