Positive SUPERSTARSWORLD return for Domenico Schiattarella

Domenico Schiattarella is looking forward to continue his SUPERSTARSWORLD run in the future. The former F.1 driver (who entered seven Formula 1 races with a Ford-powered Simtek) made his comeback to the SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES after having made his debut in 2010 at Monza.

The Milan-based man, who also ran in Champ Car and in other top sportscar and racing championships, was lined-up by Solaris Motorsport on a Chevrolet Lumina joining team's regular Francesco Sini, who drove a Camaro model.

In a successful run for him, Schiattarella ended up into the top-10 in Race 2 despite his three-year break in the series. In addition to that, it was also a return for the Lumina which proved a contender in 2012 and won last year at Mugello in the hands of Sini.

It's been great to be back in SUPERSTARS - said Schiattarella - the Solaris team worked very well and I want to thank the Sini family for having given me this opportunity. We merged immediately and I was really impressed by the team's attitude. Some mechanical issues in practice and qualifying prevented me to get the right feel with the car, so I can say I started really driving the Lumina in Race 1. Then for the afternoon I asked some changes to the set-up that allowed me to gain confidence. Before Portimo we'll undergo a test to line-up in Portugal in full shape and maybe fight for the front. We want to keep working together for the rest of the season and we'll do everything we can to accomplish the feature. In the future, there might be two Camaros running for the team. I was impressed by the crowd and the organization at Zolder which were perfect. Racing alongside friends like Giovanardi, Larini, Liuzzi, Morbidelli, Biagi and many more has been fun and this is what made SUPERSTARS become one of the most interesting and renowned championship at International level.

We're very satisfied with Mimmo's professionalism, he's a great driver and person - said driver and team's co-owner Francesco Sini - we got along well since the beginning. Unfortunately, we couldn't test before Zolder due to the time constraints so he had no running with the car before Race Day. He had to adapt quickly to the added weight compared to the GT cars he usually drives and to the lack of electronics in terms of traction and gearbox. In Race 2 though, he cruised right into the top-5. Eventually a small mistake cost him but I'm sure he'll be at the top of his game next time!
