WOLVERHAMPTONS lead at the top of the Elite League is back up to five points after a dramatic finale to Mondays clash with Poole at Monmore Green.Wolves took maximum points from the meeting with a 49-42 win over the Pirates, who hit back strongly in the closing stages but missed out on a point when home skipper Tai Woffinden slowed Martin Smolinski on the last bend to allow team-mate Chris Harris through for third place.Wolves boss Peter Adams said: We got the job done in the end and got all three points to move five points clear at the top of the league once again.I think its tremendous we are still top of the league given the absences we are carrying, although we saw rider-replacement accumulate plenty of points and Chris Harris did an excellent job as a guest.(SPEEDWAY 2)

SWINDON newcomer Kyle Howarth made a stunning debut with 12 points as the Robins fired up their play-off challenge with a 47-42 win at Belle Vue.Howarth won three of his five rides including Heat 14 to stem an Aces revival, with the meeting resolved in Swindons favour when home No.1 Matej Zagar was disqualified from the last race.Robins promoter Gary Patchett said: I'm under no illusions that Kyle will do that every week, but he certainly had a debut to be proud of. He settled his nerves with a great team-riding 5-1 with Ashley Birks in Heat 2, and went on to top score. He was comfortably our man of the match, and without his contribution we probably wouldn't be sitting here with three points in the bag. It's nice to see a plan come together.(SPEEDWAY 3)

FINNISH star Joonas Kylmakorpi is joining Peterborough as part of three changes for the Showground side as they look to climb the Elite League table. The Panthers have Linus Sundstrom and Kenni Larsen on the injured list and have also released Nicolai Klindt with Polish duo Krzysztof Buczkowski and Norbert Kosciuch rejoining the club.Peterborough co-promoter Trevor Swales said: Weve finally tracked down the three targets we wanted but we had to wait until after this weekend as there was a chance that Linus may have been able to return from injury sooner that expected. He visited his doctor on Friday and looks set to be out of action for longer so now is the right time to push ahead with these changes. We had to act as soon as we could do as we couldnt carry on with multiple guests and rider-replacement for our second and third heat-leaders, but its great to have a full team again which will hopefully start to see a change in our fortunes.(SPEEDWAY 4)

REDCAR hope to have Czech Republic international Matej Kus back in action for the first leg of their Knockout Cup semi-final against Rye House on Thursday.Kus was injured last month when competing in a Test match but he could return this week, whilst the Rockets have booked Josh Grajczonek to stand-in for the injured Olly Allen.Redcar boss Jitendra Duffill said: The boys know how important this fixture is in terms of seeking silverware this season. We have to build up a reasonable margin of victory to take to the Rockets' tight and technically demanding track later in July. We are optimistic that Matej will be back in the ranks after his absence through injury in the past month. He will undergo a late fitness test in Prague. If there are any problems we will continue to operate the rider-replacement rule.

MILDENHALL kept their National League play-off push well on course with a 52-39 win at Kent to take all four points from the meeting.Jon Armstrong, now in the No.1 position, led the way for the Fen Tigers by scoring 14 (paid 16) and he was joined in double-figures by Josh Bates and Dan Halsey, with the Kings scorechart dominated by 17 from Steve Boxall.Mildenhall chairman Kevin Jolly said: I went on record as saying we wanted all ten points from the next three meetings to help cement our place in one of the Play-Off berths and this is a fine start. All the lads performed excellently from the top down to young Danno Verge who stepped in for us and did us proud.  I don't think we could have asked for any more from the lads, they are covering well for Stefan (Nielsen) and now we move onto Sunday and hopefully another three points.
