A perfect F.Renault 2.0 ALPS weekend for Antonio Fuoco

FUOCO STAKES A CLAIM ON THE TITLE: DOUBLE IN MUGELLO RACE 2 FOR THE PREMA DRIVER AHEAD OF NYCK DE VRIES

A perfect weekend for Antonio Fuoco, who in Mugello managed pole and two wins reaching six wins so far in the season. A fabulous weekend with which the Prema Junior driver, and young talent of Ferrari Driver Academy, made a claim on the 2013 F.Renault 2.0 ALPS title. With just 50 more points left and a 49 points lead over his team mate Luca Ghiotto, the 17 y/o from Southern Italy is a whisker away from his goal.

The same Ghiotto, on third podium step in Race 1, scored a fifth today. Game over instead for the Brazilian Bruno Bonifacio, him too racing for the Angelo Rosin led team. Impressive weekend for Nyck de Vries (Koiranen GP) as well. At his comeback in the Series, after having joined the opening two rounds, managed twice second. The young Dutch driver, already part of the McLaren Young Driver Programme preceded in Race 2 the French Tech1 Racing Pierre Gasly and the Swiss Kevin Joerg (Jenzer Motorsport).

To be pointed out however that both Race 1 and Race 2 results are “sub iudice”, following the decision for further mechanical investigations in Oreca in France (official Renault Sport Technologies partner), on de Vries engine. These will be the same investigations carried out on Fuoco engine after the Imola event. This to grant transparency and the respect of the rules that always marked Fast Lane Promotion series.

«It was a perfect weekend. - commented Fuoco - In Race 2, today, I’ve pusher hard front he very beginning cause de Vries was very close. I’m also happy for the Championship: with these two wins in Imola I will focus on my lead».

THE REPORT (RACE 2). Fuoco and de Vries are once more in the first row and the two efendi their lead at the first corner notwithstanding a slight hesitation for the Dutch. Behind them there is Gasly, chased by Joerg focused on keeping behind Ghiotto. After two laps race is over for Baiguera and Chudleigh for a minor crash. Among other retirements those of Orudzhev e Silva. In the meantime a drive through is committed to the Singaporian Tang for a jump start. On lap six a minor excursion for Gasly which further increases the distance from de Vries. No rest for Fuoco who keeps pushing hard setting fastest lap time in 1’45”718. It’s once more chequered flag for Fuoco.

Next and last venue for 2013 Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS is set in less than a month time, on the 5/6 October weekend, in Imola.
