Progress for Idaq Motorsport At Donington Park

The Idaq Motorsport team had a progressive weekend at round ten of the Pirelli National Superstock Championship at Donington Park. Peter Ward had a solid weekend and was able to secure ninth place in the race, Paul Curran secured 22nd place. However, James East had to sit out of the race after suffering two huge crashes at the Silverstone 200 the week before and another crash on Friday the team were unable to fix an engine problem. The weather was shocking at Donington on Friday with torrential rain all day halting most practice and having an impact on the Superstock 1000 qualifying session during the afternoon. With the dry conditions on Saturday, Pete was able to qualify in 15th place for the 15-lap race. He got a good start and soon started to make progress through the pack and worked his way through to a solid ninth and some good Championship points.Peter Ward - "There have been a lot of changes this weekend for me and I have been adapting and finding my confidence again in my riding. I had a good weekend and some very good and positive chats with Colin Wright who really helped me move things forward and take things to a new level. I know it won't happen overnight but I was happy with the way I rode and I managed to feel more relaxed with my riding and I hope now I can get a good result at Silverstone and Brands and finish the season on a high. I would like to thank the Idaq team for the help and support they have given me all weekend, it's much appreciated."Paul Curran struggled during the qualifying session and ended up in 29th place, a shocking start saw him lying in 33rd place after the opening lap. He dug deep and worked hard to get back up the 22nd place at the end of the 15-lap race.Paul Curran - "I have to say that is one of the first races this year that I have really enjoyed racing in. Instead of counting down the laps I was wishing there were more, I was involved in some really good battles. I got a really terrible start and everyone was bouncing off each other in the first few laps, I ran wide in a few places. I managed to get more relaxed and soon started to make up a number of places. Colin has once again been a great help and I felt really happy and comfortable at the end of the race and can't wait for Silverstone and Brands now."Team Manager Colin Wright - "We started the weekend and set a number of targets for each rider to achieve. Pete certainly did this and our aim was to be top ten in the race and that's what he managed to do. He's made a lot of changes over the last few weeks and dug deep this weekend and worked hard and got the result we set out to get.Paul also did really well, he seems happier and more confident. Despite a bad start he didn't give up and still gained a solid result and hopefully we can get him up in the points by the end of the season. We had a target for James of top six, with the crash and the bike problem this wasn't meant to be but hopefully he can learn from this and take it to Silverstone and Brands and achieve what he is capable of. The Idaq Motorsport team are all working very well together, I'm confident now we are going in the right direction and hope to finish the season on a high."Team Principal Mark Roebuck - "Donington was a very mixed event for us. On one hand we had James unable to compete as a result of his crash in Q1 but on the other hand we had both Pete and Paul improving on their recent performances. The team has always worked together very well but it is fantastic to see the changes that Colin has started to implement taking effect and the whole thing becoming more efficient. Lastly, at Donington Park we welcomed new team member Grif Woolley as Pete Wards mechanic. Grif did a great job this weekend and we all look forward to working with him for the remainder of the season."
