Great news are set to come for the 2014 Auto GP. As the series is set for the last round of 2013 at Brno, Enzo Coloni and the sanctioning body are proud to announce a major addition for the future. Starting from the next season, Auto GP will be reintroducing prize money for the top-3 drivers of each race weekend.
The prize money system first appeared in 2010 for the first Auto GP season, and stayed in place for the following couple of years. Although this season, due to the massive developments made to the cars, the organization decided to stop the initiative, the demand between Teams and Drivers, both current and prospective, was high making it a natural choice. So the prize money will be back, with a budget of around 300.000€.
Enzo Coloni: “Auto GP is currently the only championship to provide its most deserving drivers with race-by-race prize money for 2014. We started our prize money program since the earliest stages of our history and as the request to bring it back, especially coming from the new teams, was quite high, we decided to re-introduce the program. More news are coming especially regarding winter testing, as we are defining the dates and will be announcing them soon”.
“In the meantime, I want to congratulate our champions on the results in last week's Italian Grand Prix at Monza. Romain Grosjean drove a solid race in Formula 1 while Adrian Quaife-Hobbs took his maiden GP2 win and Vittorio Ghirelli scored his first point in the series. These results demonstrate once again how the Auto GP school can deliver at international level, in addition to being an extremely valuable choice in economic terms”.
