BRITISH star Tai Woffinden is on the verge of the World Championship title as he heads into the Scandinavian Grand Prix on Saturday.Woffinden is 22-points ahead of Polish ace Jarek Hampel with two rounds remaining – Russian Emil Sayfutdinov is two points closer but is out for the rest of the season with injury – but he insists there will be no change of strategy ahead of the biggest night of his career.Woffinden said: “I’m pretty relaxed to be honest, I sound boring when I say it, but I’m just trying to treat Saturday the same as any other meeting.“All I can say is that I will go there and do my best and see if that’s good enough. I will try and win races and if that’s enough to win the world title then great – if not we go to Torun for the last round.”(SPEEDWAY 2)
RICHIE Worrall, who was on the verge of Great Britain’s World Cup squad this summer, is predicting some “top racing” in Sunday’s Premier League Riders’ Championship at Sheffield’s Owlerton Stadium (5pm).Worrall will be representing Newcastle after moving into the No.1 spot with the Diamonds. He also doubles-up in the Elite League with King’s Lynn. And he said: “I’m really excited to be riding in the PLRC for the first time, and I’m looking forward to trying to challenge for the title. It’s a very tough line-up with some great riders involved, and being on a really big, fast track like Sheffield I think there will be some top racing.“It’s going to be very difficult but I know what I’m capable of on my day, and I’ll be going there to give my all and try to get the win.”

IPSWICH built up a twelve-point lead from the first leg of the League Cup Final with the silverware to be decided at Newcastle on September 29.Morten Risager and Rohan Tungate both scored eleven for the Witches, a total matched by the Diamonds’ Ludvig Lindgren, as the home side won 51-39 having opened up the majority of that margin in the closing races.Ipswich co-promoter Chris Louis said: “Overall it was a good result. When the track conditions are so different to what the home team expect it is always a big leveller and we did well to finish twelve points ahead. Now we need to finish the job when we travel to their place.”Newcastle boss George English added: “I think the final score was somewhat disappointing bearing in mind how well we held Ipswich until the final four races as we were only two points down, after which they just turned on the power and caught us napping, leaving us with a bigger than desired deficit to make up. But with the right attitude we know we can do it.”
