Albatec Racing makes a welcome return to UK shores with a guest appearance on home soil in the final round of the British Rallycross Championship, and MSA British Rallycross Grand Prix at Croft over the weekend of 19&20 October. Returning to the scene of his 2011 outright victory, Andy Scott will pilot one of the team’s two-litre, 16v Peugeot 208s, while son Marc, who clinched the 2013 British Rallycross Championship RX150 title in convincing style, will drive the Peugeot 306 S16 that powered Scott senior to his first ever Supercar victory.

Team Principal Scott won the event in 2011 and last season notched up four heat wins and fifth place in both A finals. The 2011 MSA British Rallycross Vice-Champion will be joined in this year’s line-up by 28 year-old son Marc who makes his Supercar debut following an impressive season that has netted six wins from seven starts, and with it the coveted RX150 crown.

While the 600bhp Peugeot 208 is one of the new generation of Supercars, undoubtedly the newest car on the RallycrossRX grid, the Peugeot 306 is among the oldest, steeped in history and with a pedigree boasting four British championship titles. Built in 1993 by Will Gollop it was first raced in 1994, winning back-to-back titles in ’96 & ’97. Heading to Ireland in ’98, Helmut Holfield took it to its third championship crown, while Ollie O’Donovan powered his way to the car’s fourth title in 2007.

Now owned by Scott and built and prepared by Tony Bardy Motorsport, it is Bardy’s successful preparation company that will oversee Scott junior’s Supercar debut appearance in North Yorkshire. Together the combination took Scott senior to his first ever Supercar victory and earlier this season to a dominant win at the Knockhill round of the domestic series.

Heading straight to North Yorkshire from the final rounds of the FIA European Rallycross Championship in Germany two weeks ago however, the fledgling Albatec Racing team will be aiming to challenge for outright honours with the 208 as it looks to build on the form that has netted numerous heat wins in its debut season.

This year’s Croft event, billed as one of the most prestigious on the British calendar, will feature the final round of the Monster Energy MSA British Rallycross Championship on Saturday, and the MSA British Rallycross Grand Prix in association with Star Radio on Sunday. Returning to its original format for the first time since 2004, the event will run as a dual permit MSA-sanctioned event, with the amalgamation of previously separated classes, with all classes competing against one another on mixed-category grids from heats right up to the grand final.

Confirmed among the line-up is fellow RallycrossRX competitors Anton Marklund and Jos Jansen, alongside leading British championship contenders last year’s winner Julian Godfrey, four-time title holder Pat Doran, ‘Mad’ Mark Watson and Kevin Procter.
