Successful Weeked at Weston Beach Race for Davidson and MJW Kick Kawasaki

The season wrapped up nicely for the MJW Kick Kawasaki team at the RHL Weston Beach Race at the weekend. Rob Davidson took on a strong field of riders in the youth race on Saturday and took a fantastic win, completing 28 laps over the one and a half hour race. He was then all set to race on a 450 Kawasaki in the main race on Sunday completing 20 laps over the three hour period.Rob Davidson - "I was really looking forward to the Weston Beach Race knowing I had a good chance of winning the youth class and the track looked unreal at the start of the weekend, so I was excited to get on the bike. We had been preparing a lot the week before the race so we knew the bike would be perfect and ready to win.The weather was mega leading up to the race and as soon as we started it started raining, which wasn't ideal but everyone was in the same boat. I got a good start and going into turn one I tried to keep it tight to the barrier, I went in a little hot on the back brake and stalled the bike. I couldn't believe I'd done this; I got restarted and was about a minute behind the leaders.I'd thought I'd blown my chances by doing that and I made a few mistakes trying to settle myself down. I soon got my head back down and focussed on the job in hand and I wanted to do well, I managed to get the fastest lap and I think we possibly managed to do one of the fastest pit stops there, this helped me make up a lot of time also. I was able to get back out on track in the lead and was able to win the race by 10 seconds. The Saturday race was hard work and then I knew I had the adult solo race to contend with on Sunday. I managed to get seeded, which allowed me to be set off with the front pack, I got away with some of the top boys in around third. This was an amazing feeling as some of these guys I watched as I've been growing up so to be in amongst them was awesome.I had a pretty big crash on the first lap and with the heavy rain the conditions were pretty bad, I had to keep pitting for new goggles as it was nearly impossible to see. It was an unreal experience and I really loved it but the track was brutal. I managed to finish in 10th place so I was pretty happy as I was hoping for a top 15 finish, I will be back next year in the hope to improve and gain a better result.I couldn't have done this without the help from my Mum and Dad and Mark Woodage from MJW Kawasaki, they helped me prepare for the weekend and helped me with support all weekend I'm really pleased with the outcome and can't wait to do it again next season."Team Owner Mark Woodage - "The Weston Beach Race was a first for me and what an eye opener it was, every credit to every rider that took part and too RHL for putting on another great show. The first race on Saturday was the Youth race and Rob was expecting big results in this. A stalled motor and a crash on lap one put rob over a minute behind Dan Thornhill and chances of a win were looking slim. Rob did a fantastic job at keeping his cool taking two seconds a lap out of Dan and only pitting once a standard Kawasaki tank won us the race by over ten seconds. It was a great and well deserved result for Rob and all the hard work the team had put in.On Sunday, the heavens opened and it was more of an Enduro in the worst conditions than a Beach Race. Rob settled in well on the 450 lying in third till a huge crash knocked the wind out of him. Composing himself in torrential conditions and finishing inside the top ten was a great achievement.Again a big thanks to Kawasaki UK and all the sponsors who without their support we would not be where we are today and we're looking forward to the 2014 season now.We now have the Dirt Bike Show to prepare for where we have a few bikes on various sponsors stands and the launch of our new Youth team as well as promoting new Kawasaki KX85."
