Lynch Targets Title At Croft

Wigan racer Tony Lynch will hope to wrap up the BMW Mini class title this weekend when the Monster Energy MSA British Rallycross Championship season comes to a close at Croft.

Westhoughton-based Tony took a third win of the year at the wheel of his Lucas Oil Team Geriatric car last time out at Pembrey to extend his lead over closest rival David Bell in the standings.

Even with dropped scores taken into account, Tony goes into the season finale as the man to beat after an impressive debut campaign in the Mini class this season.

With confidence on a high on the back of his Pembrey success, Tony will seek to add another championship success to his already glowing resume, although the close nature of the title battle means he can’t afford to relax if he wants to ensure he comes out of Saturday’s season finale on top.

“The win at Pembrey has put us in the perfect position for the final round, but we know we can’t afford to relax,” Tony said. “It’s great to have a small advantage over David, but it’s so small that he will be ready to pounce on any mistake we make.

“When we raced in the Suzuki class, we were always in contention for the title but for various reasons, we didn’t quite manage to wrap up the championship crown. I’m determined to make sure that that doesn’t happen again this weekend and all of my focus is on making sure we end the year on top.

“It’s been a great fight with David this season and I’ll be doing everything in my power to win the final battle and lift the title.”

Following the final round of the season, Tony will stay on to watch his car in action in the end of season Rallycross GP on Sunday, where British Touring Car Championship racer Shaun Hollamby will be at the wheel.
