Norwegian Fredrik Johansen joins BRDC F4 Winter Championship

Norwegian racer Fredrik Johansen has confirmed he will compete in the BRDC F4 Winter Championship with Chris Dittmann Racing.

He began karting in 2004 with his first major result coming in 2006 with a sixth place finish at the Norway Junior Karting Festival. A year later he won the competition outright, with further success in the 'Kissanracet' series and finishing fourth overall in the Norwegian Championship.

He then moved to endurance karting, and took victory in the Yamaha two-hour endurance race in 2009. He finished third in the same race a year later, and claimed second in 2011.

Moving up to the KZ2 category in 2012, he graduated to the North European Championship in 2013.

Fredrik enjoyed successful F4 testing runs at the start of the season with the Chris Dittmann Racing team, and is now eagerly anticipating his first race in cars.

“I am really excited to be racing in the BRDC Formula 4 Winter Championship” he enthused. “I have tested with the car and the team earlier this year and found it to be an excellent car to work with and to learn in. I am now ready to start racing and I can’t wait to get out on track, the British circuits are some of the best in the world and I hope to show the world what I can do!”

Team Principal Chris Dittmann commented; “It's great to finally confirm Fredrik for the Winter Championship. He tested the F4 car with us back in April and he has been working hard all year to raise the budget.

“Fredrik was very impressive in his first test and although it will be a big learning curve for him, I have no doubt that with our help he can challenge for the Winter Championship title.”

The BRDC F4 Winter Championship commences on 9-10 November on the Snetterton 300 circuit in Norfolk. For more information visit www.formula4.com.
