BRITISH Speedway golden boy Tai Woffinden will hand over a staggering £35,000 to Cancer Research UK later this month.The new world champion cycled from Wolverhampton, his British Elite League track, to Cardiff for the British Grand Prix in June and was sponsored by fans.
He raised money for a cause close to his heart after losing his father, Rob, to the disease back in 2010.Now he will hand over a cheque to representatives of Cancer Research UK at Scunthorpe Speedway on Monday, November 18 at 3pm – and it’s open to the general public.
He said: “It was an amazing experience cycling from Wolverhampton to Cardiff and the first couple of days were really tough.“Obviously it’s a subject very close to my heart because of losing my Dad and I’m pleased to raise £35,000 for the cause. I’d like to thank everyone who sponsored me and to everyone who helped make the ride such a success.”
