COVENTRY have moved for top Danish star Hans Andersen as their No.1 for the 2014 campaign.Andersen joins the Bees after two years with Swindon, having led the Robins to the Elite League title in 2012, and Brandon promoter Mick Horton believes his team re-building this winter sends out a statement of intent.Horton said: “We went for a No.1 of the calibre of Hans because we want the best. We feel that Hans is indeed one of the best, he’s proved that in the averages, and this will send out a message that we are really serious about this team.“I want all our fans to know how serious we are about 2014. There are no excuses next season. This team is going to be the team to beat, and we aren’t interested in coming second.”(SPEEDWAY 2)
EXCITING Danish youngster Mikkel Bech will step up to the top flight next season having agreed a deal with Lakeside.Bech burst onto the international stage when he helped his country to World Cup glory in 2012 before starting his British career in the Premier League with Plymouth this year – and Hammers promoter Jon Cook plans to name a second signing at a Forum in North Stifford on Friday.Cook said: “We are very close to the top five we want and have another rider to announce on the night. “For the last three places there are contracts currently on the table for riders to consider, and whilst I don't foresee any problems between ourselves and the lads concerned we feel it prudent to await the conclusion of TV talks before any paperwork is signed.”(SPEEDWAY 3)
EDWARD Kennett is to return to Premier League racing as Rye House’s new No.1 for 2014.The GB international started his competitive career with the Rockets, helping them to the league title and Premier Trophy in 2005, and is one of six confirmed starters for next season alongside Tyson Nelson, Jason Bunyan, Jason Garrity, Steve Boxall and Testimonial man Luke Bowen.Rye House promoter Len Silver said: “This is a marriage made in heaven and I know our fans will be totally over the moon about Eddie’s move. My only regret, and it is a serious one, is that it determines that we are unable to track Anders Mellgren, a rider for whom I have the highest regard and affection. “In thanking him for his excellent performances for the Rockets, I will make it my task to try to find a placement for him as quickly as possible. Of course in future seasons, if I can fit him into our team, I will have no hesitation in doing so.”
