BIRMINGHAM have announced a re-structure of the club’s backroom with Alan Phillips taking sole ownership of the Perry Barr club.Phillips was previously in partnership with Chris Luty who has ended his involvement although the company BCTG, of which Luty is a director, will continue as a sponsor of the Brummies. Co-promoter Graham Drury will take charge of the day-to-day running of the team.Phillips said: “This is a new era for the Brummies. WORKINGTON have signed popular Dane Rene Bach for a third season with the Comets in a full transfer deal.Bach will again fill a heat-leader role at Derwent Park and starts 2014 on a 7.85 average, becoming a fully-fledged asset after the club agreed to purchase him from Peterborough, and he joins Australian youngster Mason Campton as a confirmed starter.Comets owner Laura Morgan said: “We believe that Rene has the potential to add a significant amount to his current average and when he is in full flight around Derwent Park he is fantastic to watch. There is still plenty more to come from him in the future and he is very much part of our plans for the Comets, which is why we purchased his contract from Peterborough.“Rene is very happy to be joining us on as an asset of the club and having enjoyed his two seasons as a Comet he was very keen to do a deal for next season.”(SPEEDWAY 3)

GLASGOW have rewarded Anders Thomsen for promising displays in a three-month spell this year with a Tigers team place for 2014.The 19-year-old Dane is expected to start the campaign in a reserve berth, and the Tigers have also confirmed Stewart Dickson will continue as team manager after taking the reins late last season.Co-promoter Colin Hamilton said: “What Anders showed us at the back end of the season was very impressive. We saw the potential, and also identified a couple of things that he can improve on with his equipment in this country - because he was certainly showing good results in his own country last season.“The other thing we're able to say is that Stewart Dickson has agreed to take on the position of team manager.
