BIRMINGHAM skipper Danny King has withdrawn his transfer request and will return to Perry Barr next season.King has held clear-the-air talks with Brummies owner Alan Phillips having seemed set to leave the club after a three-year stint.King said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be staying with Birmingham. It’s a great club and it’s where my heart is. Graham Drury staying was a key factor for me, he’s been with me at all levels of the sport through my career and I’m pleased to be working with him again.“I had a good chat with Alan and we are all determined to see this great club succeed. I cannot wait for the new season to start, I’m very enthusiastic about it.”(SPEEDWAY 2)

AUSTRALIAN star Rusty Harrison has been named as Glasgow’s second signing for the 2014 Premier League season.The 32-year-old actually started his British career at Ashfield back in 2000 but has more recently been associated with Workington, where will stage a Testimonial next year.Harrison said: “Having been released from Workington, and being based in the North-West, I was keen to try and find a new club which I’m suited to.“I’ve always liked racing at Glasgow and have had a good reception from the fans there. I really look forward to being a Glasgow rider again and helping the club to a successful season.”

COVENTRY have named 19-year-old Kyle Howarth as the final member of their top five for next season.Howarth recently completed a full transfer from Poole to Premier League Workington and will double-up in the top flight for the Bees, who have completely changed their team from 2013.Coventry promoter Mick Horton said: “There’s no doubt that Kyle is one of the most sought-after youngsters in the sport, and we’re delighted to have signed him.“It became very apparent when he spoke to me that he wanted to join Coventry. We had no hesitation in making a move for him, and I’m very pleased with our top five overall – it looks very strong.”

POOLE promoter Matt Ford has vowed to move on with building a team to defend the Elite League title following Kyle Howarth’s surprise exit from the club.Howarth has joined Workington on a full transfer, albeit with a buy-back option clause included, and will double-up with Coventry – but Ford is unhappy the reasons for Howarth’s transfer request cited the travelling distance to Poole.Ford said: “The geographical position of Poole is nothing I have any influence over and when we have such tight points limits to work within I can only afford to have riders in my team who are fully committed to riding for the club. “I am fully committed to putting a side together which I believe is capable of successfully defending the league title and will now move forward from this episode with that goal in mind.”
