MATEJ Kus is rejoining Berwick for the 2014 season – nearly seven years after making national headlines during his recovery from injury. The Czech Republic rider, who has spent the last three years with Redcar, had a short stint with the Bandits in 2007 which was brought to an end by serious concussion, after which the then non-English speaker briefly began to converse perfectly in the language – a phenomenon known as xenoglossy.Co-promoter Dennis McCleary said: “As Matej had at the time just begun to study the English language, our promotion and his fellow-Bandits were shocked to hear him speaking it perfectly!“However the effect did not last long and Matej had no recollection of the incident after two days. His great quote was that although he was hoping to learn to speak English to help him travel around, he would prefer not having to get another bang on his head to become fluent!”(SPEEDWAY 4)

MILDENHALL have made rapid team-building progress by adding Joe Jacobs and Josh Bates to the main body of their side, forming a strong heat-leader trio with Dan Halsey. And the Fen Tigers have also moved for promising 16-year-old Connor Mountain at reserve as they look to challenge strongly to regain the National League crown.Chairman Kevin Jolly said: “We wanted to move quickly and give our loyal support an early Christmas present and we feel we have done exactly that. In my opinion there will not be a more powerful and exciting top three in the National League next season.“Connor is a highly promising youngster and an impressive and professional young man. We were very impressed by his performances on and off the track when he guested for us on a number of occasions last season. We quickly marked him down as one for the future and as a rider we wanted in our side for 2014.”

He’s 110 per cent behind trying to retain his league winners’ medal in 2014, this time with Coventry, and he was actually trying to work out who else we could sign!
