for Level 5's Youth Development TeamRising motocross star Dustin Renteria, the youngest member of Level 5 Motorsports’ Youth Development Team, had the most decorated year of his young career in 2013. The 11-year-old racer out of Hollister, California, collected 22 victories on his way to winning four series championships.
Renteria began his motocross career at only 6, and has been winning races and competing for titles since. In his first years of racing, Renteria collected numerous podium finishes and multiple overall championships, and caught the eye of Level 5 Motorsports owner Scott Tucker.
“The Youth Development Program at Level 5 is geared towards helping talented young kids take their racing careers to the next level,” Scott Tucker said. “Our goal is to provide promising young racers with the resources that they need to reach their full potential. It’s amazing to see how talented these young kids are when they’ve got the right equipment and support.”
Since signing with Level 5 Motorsports, Renteria has dominated the motocross ranks in his age bracket, and 2013 is his most impressive year yet. To go along with his 22 victories, which he achieved in only 33 race events, the youngster notched 11 second-place finishes and six third-place finishes, for a total of 39 podium finishes.
In his first full season racing an 85cc motorcycle, Renteria began the year with series championships in the CMC Spring Classic Series 85 novice class and the 85cc open class. He also clinched the Transworld-Muscle Milk Spring Cup Series championship in both the 85cc 9-11 year and 85cc open classes.
In November, Renteria went on to win the 85cc 9-11 year championship in the Transworld-Muscle Milk Fall Series, and finished a close second in the 85cc open class championship standings.Most recently, he clinched the 85cc Novice championship and the 85cc open class championship in the CMC TransCal Series this past weekend, putting an exclamation point on an incredible 2013 season.
“I can’t thank Scott Tucker and Level 5 Motorsports enough for their support over the past five years,” Renteria said. “Their support has helped me so much in being able to compete and be successful.”
Renteria has become a great representative for motocross and Level 5 Motorsports. Off the track, he’s a 6th-grade honor roll student at an Accelerated Achievement Academy in Hollister, California. And, on the track, he’s well-liked by his peers for his positive attitude and his respect for other racers. Earlier this year, he ran the number of a local injured motocross rider to show support for his fellow competitor, a gesture that did not go unnoticed by the motocross community. It’s characteristics like these that Scott Tucker looks for in his young development drivers.
“For me, the way that these young racers carry themselves in their community and the focus that they give to their education is equally as important as their racing ability,” Tucker said. “We’re very proud of Dustin for the way that he continues to excel both on and off the track.”
