GLASGOW have completed their team building for 2014 with the signing of experienced Australian Mark Lemon. The 40-year-old, who is also manager of his national side, spent last season with Plymouth and Ashfield bosses hope the younger members of their team can tap into Lemon’s knowledge from a British career dating back to 1990.Manager Stewart Dickson said: “Mark brings a wealth of experience to what is a relatively young side. I think this will be hugely beneficial for the youngest team members and for fellow Aussie Joey Ringwood in particular as he tackles his second season here.“Mark acknowledges that he had a slightly disappointing season, by his own standards, in 2013 and he wants to put that right and raise his average to over seven once again which I fully believe he is well capable of.”

OXFORD City Council has unanimously turned down a bid to build 220 homes on Cowley Stadium – the home of the Cheetahs until 2007.Around 300 speedway and greyhound fans were present to hear the outcome, which is subject to a possible appeal, and there are other interested parties who would re-introduce both sports should they be able to purchase the stadium.OSSC Chairman Gavin Beckley said: “It was a fantastic result for us – the refusal to the housing could not have been any more decisive, it was unanimous. “There’s still a long way to go before we see the return of speedway to the stadium, but this was a very important first step.”
