PHIL Morris has confirmed he will continue his work as an integral part of the Great Britain youth coaching system. The former Birmingham boss was amongst the applicants for the post of senior manager, with Swindon’s Alun Rossiter receiving the nod earlier this week.Morris said: “Naturally I’m disappointed, I’m not going to pretend otherwise, I put a lot of effort into my application and thought I made a good case.“But when the appointment was made I was quick to call Rosco and congratulate him. I like him and I really hope he can get the lads going and help us have a good tournament.“I will continue to work with the Under-21s, I will be working on the Under 19 and Under 16 events too and doing what I believe is right for the development of young riders.“It’s something I relish and I do believe we have a good crop of young riders coming through the system right now.”

LAKESIDE co-promoter Jon Cook says the Elite League’s expanded fixture list in 2014 is great news for supporters.Top-flight clubs will now race 36 matches rather than 28, and the Hammers have arranged at least three Saturday night fixtures at Purfleet – with a fourth dependant upon the England football team’s World Cup progress.Cook said: “It's great to offer up a full fixture list and I am particularly pleased that through the support of the Raceway we have managed to overcome the traffic problems that deter fans from visiting us on Bank Holiday Fridays by switching to Saturdays. “These meetings really are the jewel in our crown along with a packed summer holiday of meetings that sees a gap of no more than a fortnight between home meetings. The team can't wait to get cracking.”

RYE House boss John Sampford believes Steve Boxall’s return to the Premier League will be a success on competitive machinery.Boxall made his comeback with Kent at National League level in 2013 but is back with the Rockets this season and has received assistance from a sponsor to buy an almost brand-new machine from the stable of former World No.3 Ryan Sullivan.Sampford said: “My only concern over Steve has been equipment. His talent is never in question, as any knowledgeable speedway person will agree. Now he has two good bikes, so I am much more at ease.”
