The motorcycle division of Yamaha Motor UK (YMUK) has announced that with immediate effect the supply agreement with the riding school division of Superbike School Ltd (SSL), better known as California Superbike School (CSS) has come to an end and that YMUK will no longer be supporting the school or providing them with motorcycles.

Following a long and fruitful relationship which started in 2000 and spanned 14 years, the UK franchise of CSS has become one of the most prolific providers of circuit riding instruction in the country and Yamaha is proud to have been associated with the school throughout this period,providing its legendary Supersport machines - YZF-R1 and YZF-R6 - for both CSS instructors and as customer hire bikes.

The original California Superbike School was founded in 1980 by legendary rider and racer Keith Code and since then CSS schools have been set up in many countries around the world teaching riding techniques developed with top GP riders of the day. Each school is run as an independent business and can therefore negotiate locally for the supply of machinery with their national motorcycle importers.

Speaking on behalf of Yamaha Motor UK, Marketing Coordinator Karl Radley said: "We are very disappointed that the relationship has come to an end as CSS and its team have been great ambassadors, always representing the Yamaha brand and products with integrity and enthusiasm during a school day or representing us at shows. We sincerely wish CSS and its team all the very best for the future."

CSS will continue to operate this season and have been promoting their new courses and Yamaha machinery for some time. Riders who have already booked onto a 2014 course will therefore no longer be able to experience the latest Yamaha machinery and should contact CSS if they have any concerns that this change will affect their booking.
