COVENTRY have confirmed an extension of their title sponsorship deal with Buildbase into a second decade. The national builders merchant first backed the Bees in 2004 and Regional Director John Clarke says customer support plays a big part in the success of the relationship. He said: “My heart is very much in speedway, but obviously I have bosses who also need to buy into it, and they all agree that it’s a very good way of marketing our brand.“It also means we can get our customer-base, and their families, involved in speedway. We can give them an absolutely fantastic evening in a family atmosphere watching some good sport. Eleven years is a record of which everyone should be proud.”

SHEFFIELD’S new promotion say they are planning for a busy schedule of racing at Owlerton this season. The Tigers’ future was uncertain until the deal was agreed for a consortium to take over from former owner Neil Machin, but their team to race in the Premier League is now complete and season tickets have gone on sale.Prospective co-promoter Damien Bates said: “It’s important for us to clarify the season ticket situation, they won’t just be for 18 matches. IPSWICH co-promoter Chris Louis says the sale of Joe Jacobs is in the best interests of rider and club.Jacobs has become a Coventry asset after racing for the Brandon outfit in the National League last season, although he will still retain links with Louis with Mildenhall being one of his clubs for 2014.Louis said: “At a time when I’m trying to build the club and its asset base up it is difficult to let any rider go, but Coventry came in with a sensible offer for Joe’s contract and have also offered to help him to continue his progression. “I have always said that I will not stand in the way of any of our riders furthering their career and I feel the time is right to let Joe go. The lad is a pleasure to work with and as part of the transfer he will remain an important part of the Fen Tigers’ team in 2014 and I look forward to once again working with him.”
