Ginetta GT4 Pace-Setter Robertson Eyeing More Wins At Thruxton‏

Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup championship leader Charlie Robertson is aiming to extend his points advantage when the category makes its annual visit to Thruxton Circuit in Hampshire next weekend, 3rd/4th May.Heading into the third event of his maiden season in sportscars, the 2012 Ginetta Junior Champion and 2013 BRDC Formula 4 front-runner has already established himself as an undoubted title contender and hopes to add to the two victories and two other podiums achieved so far.During officially timed testing at Thruxton earlier this month, the Whyteleafe-based youngster was third fastest in the first session and went on to end the day sixth quickest overall. Very happy with his performance, especially as the outing was his first at the 2.35-mile track for two years, Charlie is brimming with confidence ahead of rounds seven, eight and nine.“It’s been a great year so far, we never expected to be in a position to challenge for wins from the start of the season so it’s fantastic to have been on the top step of the podium twice already”, said the HHC Motorsport driver, “Each time we’re on track I’m learning more about the car and the team is developing the set-up and unlocking more and more pace.“Brands and Donington were both great weekends and although Thruxton is a different kind of track, unique really, the test a few weeks ago went well. I’m confident we can keep the momentum going and the aim has to be to try and increase our lead in the championship.”In addition to Charlie’s quartet of podium visits from the first six rounds, the Investigo and Blackstar supported racer has also achieved three fastest race laps and one pole position – for round four at Donington – and has a great chance to add to that tally just over a week from now.“We’re only six races into the season, there’s a long, long way to go, but with the championship having started so well I think we have to aim as high as we can at Thruxton”, added Charlie, “I’d obviously like to fight for wins next weekend but if we can score plenty of points and maintain the championship lead, I’ll be more than happy.”With the official pre-event Thruxton test having already taken place a couple of weeks ago, the first track session for the Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup competitors next weekend will be qualifying at 09.30 on Saturday, 3rd May. Rounds seven and eight will follow at 15.20 and 17.45 respectively. On Sunday, 4th May, round nine of the 2014 season is scheduled to start at approximately 13.20 and will be screened live on ITV4 and ITV4 HD with the addition of live streaming at www.itv.com/btccProvisional 2014 Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup Driver Standings (after Rd6):1st Charlie Robertson, 152pts
