Kiesa wins Drift Challenge

With an 800 bhp Toyota Supra the Danish former Minardi Formula One driver Nicolas Kiesa wins the first Drift Challenge north of Hockenheim. The sideways-competition has hit the Northern Europe with a massive impact.

Sideways-for-fun started in the homeland of tuning, Japan. Jumped to Europe with screaming tires at Hockenheim and Silverstone. And now - the dancing sliders have jumped to the new track of Padborg Park at the Danish/German border.Almost 30 drivers from Germany and Denmark were ready to prove to the World they are the best drifters in the northern part of Europe - among others first of all former Formula One driver Nicolas Kiesa, Danish touring car gun Michel Nykjær and a lot of rally drivers. Plus the promoter, Flemming Haslund, Editor-In-Chief of Autocar Denmark. The competition was most-and-best sliding through four corners, three left-handers and one right-hander. A lot of screaming Michelin was melted - the BMW's of Nykjær and Haslund showed their style - but no one was able to slide as sideways in the fast section as the Supra-sliding Kiesa.Nicolas said: "Well, normally I am a Peugeot-driver - but drift needs rear wheel drive - that's why I was driving a borrowed Supra. And well - it was pretty sideways, wasn't it?The Danish close-to-F1-racer won in front of the promoter, Haslund, driving a BMW 325 touring car and touring car driver Brian Mikkelsen.
