REBELLION Racing set for Enduro test at the 6 Hours of Spa

The REBELLION team is on a steep learning curve with their brand new Rebellion R-One cars, and the trend is positive as the knowledge about the car is growing and the pace is improving session after session. The Swiss team ended yesterday on a positive note with both cars taking part in the Qualifying session for today's 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.

Nicolas Prost and Mathias Beche qualified their Rebellion R-One Toyota #12 on the sixth row of the grid for the start of the 6 Hours of Spa with a fastest average laptime for the two drivers of 2:14.482.

Fabio Leimer and Dominik Kraihamer, at the wheel of the #13 Rebellion R-One Toyota will start from the back of the grid as they did not complete the required laps to be qualified.

Today's race will help the team to learn even more about the cars in race conditions and to be better prepared for the next venues and of course Le Mans 24 Hours next month. The start of the 6 Hours of Spa will take place at 14:30 local time on May 3rd, 2014.

Mathias Beche – Rebellion R-One Toyota #12 : « It was my first four laps in the car. We put the wet tyres on and we decided to stick with them to be safe and get milage in the car. Everything is very new. We need a lot of improvement but for sure we need more time. It's a quite positive qualifying for us even if the lap times are not there yet. ”

Nicolas Prost – Rebellion R-One Toyota #12 : “To be honest it's been a big test session. We have to understand how the car works : aero, suspension... We made a very big step forward from practice to quali. We are moving in the right direction. If we can keep going like that, we can progress very quickly. ”

Fabio Leimer – Rebellion R-One Toyota #13 : "I had the chance to go out with the R-One for the first time. The track was tricky because it was wet. So I didn't want to push. I tried to have a feeling of the car, lap after lap. I think we are not yet on the pace, but we are here to improve and we are in a good way. Tomorrow, we don't have to think about the race, we will focus more about a longer test. We expect to learn more about the car and to collect as much data as we can. We aim to finish the race. And we will do our maximum to solve issues if they come to prepare a perfect car for Le Mans 24 Hours.

Dominik Kraihamer R-One Rebellion-Toyota #13 : "When I started to climb into the car, only 1 minute 45 were remaining to the end of the session, Simon my engineer was giving me the countdown on the radio, but I wasn't stressed. I was cool. I had only one thing in mind : exit from pitlane and drive the R-One for the first time and do it the right way. Of course, we have a lot of things to improve but we can feel the potential of the car. There are several directions to improve the car and we have to take the good one. Tomorrow's race will be a long test for us and not a race. ”

Bart Hayden REBELLION Team Manager : “Today has been a very stressful day, but it ended on a positive note. The team have worked their socks off to get the cars ready, we've not had much sleep for the past few days. I must commend the drivers for keeping very cool heads and for bringing a really professional approach to the practice and quali today. The cars have improved from their first outings and we can use the time in today's race to learn more. The work of the mechanics and engineers should also be acknowledged because they have put in an immense amount of effort since the last race ; their hard work and dedication will help the R-Ones to quickly find the pace we are looking for.”
