David Coulthard’s 2000 British Grand Prix winning car to join Mansell’s ’87 and Hamilton’s ’08 cars in 50th Grand Prix Heritage PaddockAs part of celebrations for the 50th Grand Prix at this year’s FORMULA 1 SANTANDER BRITISH GRAND PRIX (04-06 July), Silverstone has announced that the centre of the circuit will be open to fans over the course of the event for the first time since 2003.Open to the public will be the north section of the centre of the circuit, with its viewing area on the inside of Copse corner - the fastest on the track - plus views (not access) of the GP2, GP3 and Porsche Supercup support Paddocks.To commemorate Silverstone’s milestone 50th Grand Prix, the circuit is creating a ‘Silverstone50’ Heritage Paddock in the centre of the circuit, which will play host to a selection of iconic, winning cars on display from Silverstone’s previous 49 Grands Prix. Already confirmed for the display are Nigel Mansell’s 1987 Williams-Honda FW11b and Lewis Hamilton’s McLaren-Mercedes MP4-23, which Lewis drove to World Championship winning glory in 2008. Silverstone can now announce another addition to the stunning line-up: twice British Grand Prix winner David Coulthard’s McLaren-Mercedes MP4-15 from 2000.On each day of the event (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) there will also be parade laps featuring British Grand Prix winning cars driven by a host of British legends from Formula 1 history. The first driver confirmed to take part is double Formula 1® World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart, who will take to the wheel in the Matra MS80 he won the 1969 British Grand Prix in. More legendary names and machines to take part in these special 50th Grand Prix parades will be announced in due course.Centre North Access tickets are on sale now priced at £30 for Friday 04 July, £35 for Saturday 05 July, and £40 for Sunday 06 July, and are limited in availability.
