DENMARK won a thrilling World Cup battle with hosts Poland at Bydgoszcz in a Final which went right down the wire. With the scores level going into the deciding race, Niels-Kristian Iversen overhauled Janusz Kolodziej off the last turn to inflict the Poles' first defeat on home soil since 2001.Australia were third, having rapidly gained ground as the meeting progressed, whilst Great Britain were fourth but still able to reflect on reaching their first Final in four years after last weekend's win at King's Lynn.Boss Alun Rossiter said: "It was a tough night, but you only have to look at the other teams; there were riders dropping points everywhere. It was hard racing, and we just didn’t seem to have enough speed. "But it’s a good learning curve and I enjoyed every minute of it. I couldn’t have asked for any more effort."

NEWCASTLE star Danny King has faced a dash back from Poland in order to take his place in the Premier League Fours on Sunday afternoon.King represented Great Britain in the World Cup Final at Bydgoszcz last night but now returns to Diamonds duty in one of domestic speedway's major showpiece events of the season. He said: "I'm looking forward to the Fours, and it's a good opportunity for us to try and get some silverware as a club."Peterborough is a track I love - it's where I started my career and I've missed riding it in the Elite League this year. It's always been a brilliant race track so it should provide some excellent racing, and hopefully we can put in a good performance."

I'm totally gutted to end my recent great spell of form in this way."I hope I'll be out for less than a month and will be targeting our (Kent) away match at Stoke for my return if at all possible."

CRADLEY look to extend their lead at the top of the National League table when they visit Stoke on Sunday evening. The Heathens are currently six points clear of Coventry and can extend that margin with a win at Loomer Road, although they will be using rider replacement for Steve Worrall who is on PL Fours duty.Cradley boss Will Pottinger said: "Stoke are having a decent season so this will be a tough match especially without Steve. We can't afford to carry any passengers using rider replacement but I'm confident each rider can raise their game as we look to get another positive result."Meanwhile Buxton go for their elusive first win of the season when Devon provide the opposition at the Hi-Edge Raceway.Buxton bring in Layne Cupitt at reserve and Hitmen No.4 Tom Woolley said: "Looking back at the meetings at the start of the season we as a team have given too many silly points away and I think half of it comes down to luck, but fingers crossed some good luck will start to come our way."

BERWICK overcame the weather as well as Glasgow to add three more points to their Premier League total with a 55-41 win over the Tigers at Shielfield Park.Kevin Doolan top-scored for the Bandits with 13 points from five rides whilst Theo Pijper scored 14 for the Tigers but Victor Palovaara was scoreless on his debut.Berwick boss John Anderson said: "Under the circumstances all the riders need to be fully congratulated on finishing all 15 heats so fast with the awful weather before and threatening late in the match, so to finish in an hour and twenty minutes was superb, and with that in mind I have to thank the track and pits’ staff and the referee for getting the meeting moving on so well.“Also the result was excellent for us too, adding another three good points into our pool, getting us back into fifth place in the Premier League.”
