(SPEEDWAY 1 – MONDAY REVIEW)

EASTBOURNE moved back above Swindon and into the Elite League’s top four with a 53-40 win over the Robins at Arlington on Monday.Joonas Kylmakorpi returned to form for the Eagles with 12 points, including three race wins, whilst Bjarne Pedersen dropped just one point from five rides as the home side took the honours despite a stunning show at reserve from Swindon’s Steve Worrall. The Fast Track rider scored 13 (paid 14) including wins later in the meeting over home top-five riders Timo Lahti and then Kylmakorpi.Eastbourne boss Trevor Geer said: “I thought Swindon would push us all the way and with Lewis Blackbird injured I was convinced we would have a real battle.“I am delighted that the whole team rose to the challenge and battled for every point. It was great to see Joonas Kylmakorpi winning races again. He had a new engine from Peter Johns and was outstanding.”Swindon manager Alun Rossiter said: “Steve was absolutely outstanding and Dak (North) rode very well, but we carried a few too many passengers. We just weren’t quite quick enough from the gate on a lot of occasions.”In the National League, Kent raced to a 69-23 win over Scunthorpe with Ben Morley top-scoring on 17+1.Stags boss Richard Hollingsworth said: “We knew this was going to be a tough meeting for the lads. All our lads worked hard to master the track. It was a shame Arron Mogridge fell leading Heat 11, otherwise we could have taken a 5-2 in that race. He was riding a blinder until he came down.”Birmingham won the Retro Fours at Wolverhampton, finishing six points clear of the home side with Cradley in third place and Oxford fourth.Ben Barker top-scored for the Brummies but fell in the individual Gary Peterson Memorial Trophy race, with Ricky Wells taking that prize.Birmingham boss Jack Lee said: “It was great to have the chance to get my Birmingham coat on again, and for the boys to come away with the win was the icing on the cake really.“It's a shame there isn't going to be any more Birmingham for this year, but hopefully we will be back on track in 2015.”

(SPEEDWAY 2 – TUESDAY PREVIEW)

BERWICK face leaders Edinburgh in a big Premier League clash at Shielfield Park on Tuesday. The Monarchs are currently seven points ahead of the fourth-placed Bandits in the table with both sides having completed 15 matches.Berwick are offering reduced admission of £10, with children free, for the televised meeting following the success of their appearance on Sky Sports last season.Meanwhile, National League leaders Cradley are looking to extend their winning run to 12 matches when they host Mildenhall at Monmore Green. The Heathens operate rider-replacement for Steve Worrall as he is racing at Berwick, whilst Josh Bates and Jack Kingston miss out for the Fen Tigers.Cradley boss Will Pottinger said: “Just like any home meeting we are going in looking to get all three points. We are missing Steve Worrall which is a blow, but they are also missing a couple of riders so we need to take advantage of that.“It will be a tough meeting but hopefully everyone can pull together to put in another good performance and we can keep our winning run going.”(SPEEDWAY 3)
