Champion Nyck de Vries wins Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS race 2

CHARLES LECLERC IS THE FORMULA RENAULT 2.0 ALPS VICE-CHAMPION

Jerez Race 2 ended the Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS season with its Champion Nyck de Vries once more on top podium step. The Dutchman thus scored his ninth win of the season granting his team Koiranen GP the Team’s Title.

Race 2 also determined the Junior Champion, seized by Charles Leclerc. The driver from Monaco of Fortec Motorsports, besides this prestigious Title also managed second overall in the Championship promoted by Fast Lane Promotion. On shields this afternoon also the two wild cards Egor Orudzhev (Tech1 Racing) second, and Matt Parry (Fortec Motorsports) third.

De Vries ruled form flag to flag in a Race affected by a crash in the very first corner that also involved the Race 1 winner Bruno Bonifacio (Prema Powerteam) and Jack Aitken (Fortec Motorsports) and Anthoine Hubert (Tech1 Racing). The Safety Car deployed did not affect the result with top positions that did not change till the chequered flag with both Orudzhev and Parry on de Vries’ tail. Thumb up for Dennis Olsen (Prema Powerteam) and Jake Hughes (Strakka Racing) fourth and fifth. Both of them were wild cards in Jerez and thus did not collect points.

Sixth place was not enough for Matevos Isaakyan (JD Motorsport) to outpass Leclerc in the Junior Title contest. Still the Russian driver proved to be the youngest ever driver to win a Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS race.
