Francesc Gutierrez to race in Maxi Endurance 32 with a SEAT Leon Cup Racer

Francesc Gutiérrez has confirmed his participation in the Maxi Endurance 32.

After his most recent challenge in the 24 hours of Barcelona, teaming up with Laia Sanz, as the first Spanish duo taking the checkered flag, Gutiérrez now looks to a fresh challenge: the longest race in the world.

In Barcelona hesaw how tough women and the new SEAT León Cup Racer are in endurance races, and asked to be included in the female team, who welcomed a driver with his experience.

His sporting career is long and successful including major achievements in Hill-climbing, Spanish GT and 24-hour races.

Francesc Gutiérrez: “I really love endurance racing and this year we have achieved a historic milestone, as we were the first Spanish driver line-up of two to finish a 24-hour race and, no less important, we won our class. I think the next step is to take part in the longest race in the world. I didn't want to miss such a special race, just like the 24 hours of Barcelona, 16 years ago”

“What strikes me most it is to check what happens after 24 hours of pure racing. How your body reacts because you need to race for other additional eight hours. It is a real endurance challenge for everyone: drivers, teams, mechanics and cars. I love it!”

“I think it is important to follow a conservative strategy, because it is important not to damage your car or yourself. From my own experience, I bring my 16-year commitment in motorsport. Without a clear target, it would be great if we are able to finish the race. I will drive the SEAT León Cup Racer, the same car I drove and won in the Barcelona 24 hours. This car gives me a lot if comfort and security”.
