PETERBOROUGH founder Danny Dunton has passed away after a long illness at the age of 90.Dunton, who launched the sport in the city in 1970, had previously enjoyed a successful career as a rider, reaching the 1950 World Final, and is a former president of the World Speedway Riders’ Association.Panthers co-promoter Trevor Swales said: “I’m honoured to have known Danny personally. He was an absolute gentleman and one of the nicest men I’ve ever met in speedway.“Everyone connected with Peterborough Speedway should be eternally thankful to Danny for bringing the sport to the city.”(SPEEDWAY 2)
CHRIS Holder has received good news from surgeons with his wrist injury not as serious as first feared.Holder crashed in practice for the third round of the Australian Championships and although he damaged the wrist he had plated last year, he did not suffer a re-break.Holder tweeted: “All fixed up. Was better than expected. Was just disclocated and bent the plate. Doc was happy with it all.”
