Sergio Canamasas joins Hilmer for Yas Marina GP2 test

The Spaniard has reached an agreement with Hilmer Motorsport to join the German squad for the first GP2 collective testing taking place at the Yas Marina Circuit. The agreement covers this first pre-season test for now.

Sergio Canamasas will take part in the first GP2 collective testing to be held at the Yas Marina Circuit, in Abu Dhabi, as this will be the official kick-off for the 2015 pre-season of the main Formula 1 feeder series. The driver born in Barcelona has reached an agreement with Hilmer Motorsport to drive one of its cars in the opening collective testing. Sergio´s main goal is to explore a possible participation in the GP2 Series with the German squad led by Franz Hilmer.

“I am very satisfied with this last minute agreement with Hilmer Motorsport. This outfit won five races in the past two years, so they are an option at least to consider intensively”, Canamasas explains, adding that “I am looking forward to start working with the team and its staff and let´s see how we work together in order to consider racing with Hilmer this season. I really like Yas Marina Circuit and, last year, I was able to score points in the Sprint race, overtaking eight cars, after being penalized on Saturday. I shall do my best, because I want to start the season with good sensations”.

As has become customary, GP2 preseason testing includes only two dates, this over the next three days at the Yas Marina Circuit and a second in Bahrain on 1-3 April.
