MRS Racing ready for the 12 hours of Mugello‏

MRS goes ahead with one Porsche GT3 Cup at the 12 hours race in MugelloThe three drivers are Putman, Espenlaub and Engelhart Mugello second round of the 24H Series powered by Hankook

Following its season opener with the 24 hours race in Dubai at the beginning of the year, the 24H Series powered by Hankook isstarting for the 12 hours race in the Italian town of Mugello this coming weekend. As announced previously, the MRS-Team will compete in the entire Hankook long-distance championship in a Porsche 991 GT3 Cup this year.

At the second from a total of five race meetings in this year´s season, the two Americans Charles Putman and Charles Espenlaub will team-up with the German Christian Engelhart. The 991 Porsche with the starting number 20 willpresent itself in a new livery in accordance with its drivers: the race car is mainly kept in white, but for its doors, bonnet and top it will feature the “Stars-and-Stripes”-Flag.

The team is looking to achieve a promising result on the 5,245 kilometre long Autodromo Internazionoale del Mugello, which is just north of Florence.

“We had a string of bad luck at the last race in Dubai, but we still managed to bring both cars home”, said Karsten Molitor, Team Principal. “We will start with one Porsche in Mugello and have a great pairing with our three drivers. Many think not that much can happen in a 12 hours race, but it is just as intense and exciting as a 24 hours race, sometimes even more exciting. You really have to think about clear strategies.”

Christian Engelhart from Ingolstadt is also looking forward to the coming weekend. “I am very excited to compete for MRS again after our class victory at the Gulf 12 Hours in Abu Dhabi in December 2014”, said the 28-year-old.

“I will support both my American team-mates and I am positive that we can race for the Cup-class victory again. Mugello is a great track and a worthy entry for the start of the European season 2015!”

The programme will start on Friday at 09:15am with the first Free Practise, followed by qualifying. The start of the Hankook 12H of Mugello will go underway from 13:30pm on Friday, with the re-start on Saturday morning at 09:30.
