Trident Abu Dhabi Pre-Season GP2 Test Review‏

The 2015 GP2 Series got underway this week with the running of a 3-day test at the Yas Marina racetrack in Abu Dhabi, and Trident joined the pack with Raffaele Marciello (Car #11) and Rene Binder (Car #12).

The Italian squad scored impressive results by managing to stay among the top four teams at all times. In addition to that, the scheduled work went flawlessly, so the the technical staff were able to collect valuable information in order to keep developing the cars and their set-up.

The implementation of a DRS system, which is the major addition for the 2015 season, satisfied both the team and the drivers, who experienced no issues apart from the natural adaptation process to a new technology.

The next run for the Trident GP2 team is scheduled for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of April at Al Sakhir in Bahrain.

11 - RAFFAELE MARCIELLO

"I'm very satisfied with how these test days played out. We all worked really well together and managed to carry on many types of tests both in terms of the qualifying and race set-up. In addition to that, we also scored great laptimes in all sessions. Of course, there's still a lot of work to do, especially in adapting the set-up to my driving style and to the different Pirelli tire compounds, but I'm sure we're working in the right direction. I'm also happy for how my FDA Engineer Francesco Pon merged with the team. We're working really well to prepare for the season opener, scheduled for next April in Bahrain. Regarding the the new DRS system, I found it really easy and fun to use. So far, so good, there are no issues to report".

12 - RENE BINDER

"The work done in this first few days led to good results and enabled us to collect valuable data to be used during the season. I found really good chemistry with Lello, my new team-mate, and there is a really familiar atmosphere within the team. In the first two days we focused on finding the right adjustments on the qualifying set-up to suit the Medium compound tires. During the last day we switched to Supersoft tires. Unfortunately though, on Day 3 we didn't get the results we expected due to the morning issues experienced with the DRS. Regarding this new system, I think it's a great addition for the GP2 car and that its use will make the races more exciting and interesting".
