Struan Moore will participate in the 2015 Duo BRDC Formula 4 Autumn Trophy with Hillspeed, returning to the championship in which he competed in both 2013 and 2014. Moore, who raced in the Japanese Formula 3 Championship this year, rejoins the Hathersage-based team that he drove for in his maiden BRDC F4 year, taking one win.
Moore, who hails from Jersey, spent two years racing in BRDC Formula 4, claiming his maiden single-seater win at Snetterton before rounding out the 2013 season with three podiums from the final six races. He switched to Lanan Racing for 2014 and enjoyed another successful season, winning at Oulton Park en route to fifth in the final standings as he remained in title contention until the final round. He switched to racing in Asia for 2015, competing well to finish eighth overall in the All-Japan Formula Three Championship, with a best finish of fourth.
The 20-year-old began his motorsport career racing karts at the age of eight before he graduated to the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2011. He moved into Formula Renault BARC for 2012 before making the step up to BRDC Formula 4 the following year.
Moore said: “I’m delighted to return to Hillspeed for the Autumn Trophy, the team and I shared some great success and I’m really excited to get back into an F4 car after my season in Japanese F3. I’m hoping I can help Hillspeed develop the car and fight it out for the podium places, starting at Snetterton this weekend.”
Richard Ollerenshaw, Team Principal of Hillspeed, added: “We are absolutely delighted Struan is rejoining Hillspeed after a couple of years away from the team, he’s a fantastic young driver and we built a great rapport and working relationship during our three years together across Ginettas, Renault and BRDC F4.
"The experience he’s gained this year in Japanese F3 will prove incredibly important with the advent of the new F4 car and his return to the team is going to help Ameya develop even further. We’re all thrilled to have such a strong line-up for the Autumn Trophy and cannot wait for the first round.”
The 2015 Duo BRDC Formula 4 Autumn Trophy consists of eight races, with the first four being held at Snetterton this weekend (November 7/8) before the final round takes place on the Indy Circuit at Brands Hatch on November 14/15. The Autumn Trophy will introduce the new Tatuus-Cosworth car which features greater power and a more advanced aerodynamic package, making BRDC Formula 4 the natural feeder series from FIA F4 and MSA Formula to European Formula 3 and GP3.
