WOLVERHAMPTON owner Chris Van Straaten has revealed how he was planning fortnightly home fixtures in 2016 – before any deal to bring Cradley back to Monmore was concluded.Van Straaten entered into a new lease agreement with landlords Ladbrokes in time for the 2016 campaign which will now see the club racing two home meetings per month in the Elite League, with the Heathens’ National League campaign filling the gaps.Van Straaten said: “This year our fixture schedule was too unpredictable. We would have a meeting, then miss a couple of Mondays, then do two on the trot, that type of situation wasn’t ideal.“The future success of British Speedway in general depends on attracting new people to the sport and one of the best ways to do that is to have a predictable and consistent fixture list for home meetings.”

BUXTON have moved to bring former British Under-19 Champion Oliver Greenwood back into National League racing next season.Greenwood, who last rode at that level for Coventry in 2014, has agreed to join the Hitmen on a 9.22 average, with a deal also confirmed to bring the club’s Rider of the Year Ryan Blacklock back to Hi-Edge.Buxton boss Jason Pipe said: “I'm absolutely over the moon to get a quality number 1 like Oliver Greenwood. Ollie did mention to me last season that he wished he'd also done NL alongside PL, but at the time we couldn't fit him in.“I'd always kept him in my thoughts for the 2016 season and the more I thought about Ollie and looked at his 2014 NL scores, I knew I had to try and bring him in at Buxton if it was at all possible.“Ryan and I worked well together this year and it was great to see him put over two points on his starting average. He has settled down more this year and has started to use his head more when racing, which has been a big factor of why he rode as well as he did and achieved his career-best average.”
