Luca Ghiotto captured a spectacular win in Bahrain, reclaiming the lead of the driver championship as the penultimate round of the GP3 Series was completed at the Al Sakhir venue. Luca and the whole Trident team are now already preparing for Abu Dhabi. Artur Janosz, who started from the second row on the grid, didn’t collect the result he and the team expected, ending up in 12th position, while Michele Beretta had another good chance to increase his experience in managing the series’ Pirelli tyres.
LUCA GHIOTTO
Taking-off from the third row in P5, Luca delivered a great start that promoted him to a potential podium position straight away. Then, the ACI Team Italia driver posted a couple of great passes, storming into lead before the safety-car came out. At that point, he held the position throughout the final stint, also setting the two fastest lap of the race. Thanks to his result, and to the points scored for the fastest lap, he fought back to the top of the driver standings. With the season finale coming in one week, Luca and the team are fully-focused on Abu Dhabi with the clear goal of delivering a flawless run.

ARTUR JANOSZ
There were high expectations for Janosz in the Sprint Race. Starting from the second row and with his good chemistry at Al Sakhir, he could have fought for his maiden podium finish. Unfortunately though, the track conditions changed dramatically compared to yesterday. Despite a good start, Artur started to lose positions due to the strong understeer which didn’t suit his driving style at all. Although this occasion was lost, Artur and Trident can look at the next round at Abu Dhabi with confidence. The Polish youngster is definitely set for more positive runs.

Michele Beretta continued to climb his learning curve with a GP3 car, especially regarding tire management. Following yesterday’s race, Michele started from the back of the pack, and while it’s never easy to recover so many positions, he got up to the 15th place and hold it until the checkered flag fell. From the middle part of the race, the young Italian started to suffer from oversteer but successfully managed the car. As a result, in terms of acquired experience, his weekend can definitely be considered a positive one.
