GLASGOW have completed their 2016 team with the signings of Richie Worrall, Nike Lunna and Fernando Garcia.

Worrall joins the Tigers on a 6.84 average having spent last season with Premier League rivals Somerset, and he completes a strong top four along with Richard Lawson, Aaron Summers and Ben Barker.

Double Finnish Under-21 Champion Lunna has signed for the Ashfield club on a full transfer after completing his debut season in the UK with Scunthorpe.

Garcia, meanwhile, comes in after starting his British career with Berwick this year and he impressed the Tigers’ management during a guest appearance at Edinburgh in the League Cup Final.

SIMON Stead will return to his rightful place as top rider in the Premier League in 2016 – that’s the view of Sheffield co-promoter Damien Bates. Stead has been unveiled as the Owlerton No.1 and skipper for the 2016 campaign after overcoming horrific arm and leg injuries last April.

Bates said: “He will be the Premier League’s top man again, there is no doubt about that. I have no concerns about his fitness, in recent seasons his physical condition has become more and more important to him and he will continue to work hard on that.”

“I expect him to be as fit and strong as ever, anyone who has read his interviews since the news broke about his return can see how serious he is about this.“He’s almost unbeatable around Sheffield and I already feel confident he will be the top rider in the Premier League averages and also a serious contender to win back his Premier League Riders’ Championship title.”

KENT have confirmed a return to Central Park for crowd favourite James Shanes for the 2016 National League season. And the Kings have also moved for 33-year-old Luke Clifton - nephew of former Canterbury rider Graham Clifton - who is making a comeback to the sport after suffering serious injury in a crash at Arena-Essex way back in 2001.

Shanes said: “There's a great group of people at Kent and I simply couldn’t be happier to be back as a King again for 2016. I'd like to up my average still more and to establish myself as a number one rider in the National League.”

Promoter Len Silver said: “It’s great news that someone so steeped in speedway in Kent as Luke Clifton has not only come out of what was a very premature retirement a dozen years ago but immediately felt it was with the Kings he wanted to make that comeback.

“So serious is he that he is in the process of building himself a speedway workshop in order to be able to maintain his equipment, a luxury he did not have in the past. Such commitment and that level of maturity he brings as a racer and person is going to be a major asset.”
