Adam McLean Confirmed as Duke Newcomers Winner 2015

Adam McLean has been confirmed as the winner of the Duke Road Race Rankings Newcomers Award 2015.

The Magherafelt youngster in his first season on the 'roads' finished in 21st position overall in the prestigious championship headed this year by fellow Ulsterman William Dunlop.

Adam rode in five rounds of the rankings series this year commencing at the Cookstown 100 where he took a third in the Junior Support race and followed that with a fourth in the Moto3 race.

His next outing was Kells where he claimed a double in the Junior Support Championship race and the Moto3 Championship race, adding a fifth in the SuperTwins Championship race.

Another victory was secured in the Junior Support Championshiop race at the 'Race of Legends' Road Races at Armoy where he also gained a fourth in the 125cc race.

At Killalane he again took the chequered flag in the Junior Support race along with another fourth in the SuperTwins race.

Venturing over the Oliver's Mount, Scarborough for the Steve Henshaw Gold Cup Road Races, Adam took seventh and fourth in the Lee Pullan SuperTwins Races.

Overall in 11 races, Adam scored four wins, with four fastest laps, one - third; four - fourths; one - fifth and one seventh place.

The Newcomer's Award was introduced to the Duke Road Race Rankings Championship in 2011 and the first winner was Ronan Pentony. Sam Wilson took the award in 2012, followed by Conor Behan in 2014 and Neil Kernohan last year.
