EASTBOURNE have named Kyle Hughes as their new No.1 for the National League campaign this year.Hughes rode for Rye House Raiders in 2015 and moves to Arlington on an average of 8.67, leaving the Eagles with one remaining rider to announce at reserve.Club director Connor Dugard said: “He’s very fast. Kyle beat the likes of Adam Ellis and Josh Bates last season so he is more than capable of doing the job. Just look at his scores.“I saw him at Coventry in the National League Fours and he went past Mildenhall’s Jack Kingston like he was standing still, and Jack isn’t slow. At the National League Pairs at King’s Lynn Kyle was the fastest out there.”

PETERBOROUGH promoter Ged Rathbone insists patience will be a virtue for the club this winter.Panthers go into 2016 today with one member of their line-up for the new Premier League campaign still to be confirmed - and with 8.45 points of the team-building limit remaining.Rathbone said: “It is not about making a quick signing to complete the line-up. We need to ensure we make the right signing and we are confident we will do that.“There are very few team spots still to be filled in the Premier League so we are not in a position where we face competition for the riders who feature on our shortlist.“We have received the first draft of our own fixtures and we expect them to be finalised in January. Once that has happened we can move forward in our discussions with riders we are keen to bring in.”(SPEEDWAY 3)
WOLVERHAMPTON and Edinburgh star Sam Masters believes he is a genuine contender for the upcoming Australian Championships. The 24-year-old finished runner-up in last year's individual series but is hoping he can go one better this term as he begins his preparations for the new British season.Said Masters: “I definitely need a good start because in the 2015 championships I had a strong finish to grab second overall but I didn't do myself any favours after playing catch up after a poor start.“The field is strong but there are around six riders in my opinion who can win the thing. I'm not going to stick my neck on the line and say I'm the man to beat but if I can have four solid rounds I believe I have a chance.”
