JASON Doyle has become the eighth Grand Prix regular to be confirmed for Belle Vue’s historic opening meeting at their new venue.The Peter Craven Memorial Trophy takes place at the National Speedway Stadium on March 19 and just three places now remain in a star-studded line-up.Club boss Chris Morton said: “This is a highly competitive line-up we’re building for the inaugural meeting and we’re delighted to confirm that Jason Doyle is the latest name to be added to the roster.“He made a significant impression on the global circuit last year and has frequently proved his worth against some of the sport’s biggest hitters, at the highest levels of competition.“We’ve always envisioned a meeting of international calibre to open the new stadium and with the riders that we already have, some of the world’s best, we firmly believe we’ve ticked that box.”(SPEEDWAY 2)
WOLVERHAMPTON new-boy Mikkel Bech believes they have what it takes to challenge for the Elite League title when the 2016 season gets underway.Having made the switch from Lakeside to Monmore Green, Danish talent Bech can’t wait to get going in gold and black. He said: “I think we have a good team all-around for 2016, there are not just a few good riders but strength in every area.“I’m looking forward to the season starting, so hopefully we can get off to a fast start, gain some momentum and keep it going for the whole season.“We want to get into the play-offs and in the mix for the title, so we'll all try to come together and perform well when the season comes around.”
(SPEEDWAY 3)EASTBOURNE have completed their line-up for 2016 with the signing of grasstrack star Charley Powell.The 23-year-old made occasional speedway appearances last season and scored nine points in a guest appearance for Birmingham at Perry Barr.Eastbourne director Connor Dugard said: “He has been riding grasstrack for three years and he is already riding internationally. He wants to learn and he listens.“Charley is fast and has shown on many occasions he is not afraid of going fast and that’s what makes the difference in finding the right three-pointers. You can’t teach bravery but you can teach someone technique and that’s what we plan to do.”
