Situated among the mountains of the German region of Eifel, along the boundaries of Belgium and Luxembourg, the Nürburgring racetrack has been hosting races since 1927. Due to its dangerous design with very high medium speed, its huge quantity of trees around the track and its nearly absence of escape routes, the 22-kilometres circuit rapidly gained the nickname of “Green Hell”.
To solve its safety problems, in 1984 a new and safer racetrack was built. Its name is GP-Strecke and it’s 5 kilometres long. Thanks to the great number of low and medium speed curves, the new layout is considered as a very technical track but the lack of high speed sections and as well as the lack of sections where limit hard braking are required make overtaking very demanding. This is why a good performance during Qualifying Practice should be the key for a successful race…
The leader in the team standings, Bonaldi Motorsport aims for a repeat ofthe last round in Spa where the PRO-AM couple Patrick Kujala-Adrian Amstutz won both Race 1 and Race 2. The double success allowed the two drivers to reinforce their leadership in the PRO-AM category with 11 points more than the second position driver. In the PRO category, Martin Kodric, who placed fifth and sixth in Spa, keeps his third position at 19 points from the leader. In Nürburgring he is expected to perform as he did during the first three races of the season when he always reached the podium. News on the Lamborghini Huracàn no. 3: William Barbosa will be in couple with the Swiss twenty-year-old driver Alain Valente, who raced in both Formula 4 Italian and German championships.
Marco Bielli, team manager: “The races in Nürburgring will be major: the couple Amstutz-Kujala showed to have the best performances on the track but the championship is still open. The other drivers of ours are expected to do well while it is extremely important for us to lead the team standings.”.
Free Practice is scheduled on Friday, 16th September at 10.45 a.m. and at 2.45 p.m.; Qualifying Practice is on Saturday, 17th at 10.15 a.m. and Race 1 at 3.10 p.m.; Race 2 is on Sunday, 18th September at 10.55 a.m..
