Joe Collier had another strong weekend with the One Cal JJR Triumph team this weekend at the penultimate round of the Dickies British Supersport series at Assen in Holland. Joe managed to secure a 11th and 12th place respectively in the two races.The One Call team came to the Dutch circuit with very little data set-up for a dry track so they spent most of Friday getting this sorted out for Joe. They were struggling to get things 100% in the Friday sessions but Joe was only 1.6 off the provisional pole time.Overnight showers resulted in qualifying being mixed conditions, it started wet and then a drying line appeared. Joe pushed hard and was able to secure 14th place on the grid for the opening sprint race on Saturday.Joe got boxed into turn one and dropped back to 17th by lap two and he knew he had to get his head down and push forwards through the pack. He soon began to chip away and eventually get in a points scoring position, he worked hard to finish race one in 11th place.For race two he had to start from 18th place, as they lined up on the grid it was raining slightly. After the initial warm up lap it had got heavier so they red flagged it and called it a wet race. With it only being a light shower everyone went out for the quick re-start on dry tyres, except Joe who had opted for wets. After the second warm-up lap the heavens had opened, finally playing into Joe's hands but the conditions were deemed unsafe and the race was stopped again.Once they finally got underway for the shortened 12-lap race, Joe got a steady start and was 16th after lap one. He dropped back to 17th on lap four but once again pushed hard through the pack to finish the 12 laps in 12th place.Joe Collier - "It was certainly an interesting weekend. We had to work really hard on Friday to get the bike set up in the dry conditions. It was hard to get it right at first as it's such a fast flowing circuit but it does have some stop / start corners in it also which the Triumph struggles with.I had a half decent qualifying position but it was carnage on the first lap fighting for position and I lost a couple of places as I made a couple of mistakes on the first few laps. I dug deep and pushed hard and finally got into a bit of a rhythm to work my way up through the pack.My time from race one dropped me backwards on the grid for race two. With all the stopping and starting for race two I wasn't sure what was going to happen. At first I thought I'd totally messed up picking wet tyres but on the warm up lap I knew that I'd actually made the right decision. I was really frustrated when they didn't run that race because other people had picked dry tyres. I made the right choice yet I was pulled off the grid. I understand it was for safety reasons but just frustrating when I'd made the right decision and others hadn't.I worked hard in the race to get 12th place but things could have been much different!Onwards to Brands now and the final round and I really want to try and show my true potential there and finish the season on a high note.
