Callan O’Keeffe will race with Fortec Motorsports in the upcoming BRDC British Formula 3 Autumn Trophy (29/30 October) at Snetterton, it has been confirmed today (20 October).

The South African has most recently been racing in Formula Renault 2.0, competing in one Northern European Cup (NEC) round this year, having undertaken partial campaigns in both the Eurocup and NEC in 2015. O’Keeffe scored his maiden win in NEC in 2014 and prior to that had competed in the ADAC Formel Masters, Formula BMW Talent Cup, where he scored four wins and nine podium finishes.

O’Keeffe enjoyed much success in karting at the world level, finishing third in the 2010 CIK-FIA World Cup in the KF3 category before finishing second the following year, then stepping up to single-seaters in 2012.

The talented youngster has been a member of both the Red Bull Junior Team and the Lotus Young Driver Programme in the past and will now make his BRDC British Formula 3 debut in the one-weekend, four-race Autumn Trophy in Norfolk.O’Keeffe said: "I'm delighted to be returning to a cockpit again! It's been a difficult year with my only seat time being one race outing in May this year. I'm really grateful to Fortec Motorsports for helping me put this deal in place. I know the team well and we have a great package capable of running up at the front of the grid. The championship is great and the cars are really impressive machines so I can't wait to get the weekend started."

Russ Dixon, Manager of Fortec Motorsports BRDC British F3 team, commented: "Callan is a highly rated young driver and it will be great to work with him in BRDC British F3, having ran him in Formula Renault 2.0 previously. We are sure he will get up to speed quickly and it will be interesting to see how he progresses over the course of the Autumn Trophy weekend."

The 2016 BRDC British Formula 3 Autumn Trophy enables drivers to get their first taste of British F3 whilst also offering additional mileage for those drivers remaining with the championship for a second campaign.
