Team Geddie ready for Pirelli-supported LMP3 CupFather-and-son duo Jim and Glynn Geddie will race in the new Pirelli-supplied LMP3 Cup Championship this year.
The pair will race a Ligier JS P3 run by Cheshire-based ABG Motorsport. The car was on display on the Ligier UK stand at the Autosport International show last week.
Jim Geddie won the GT Cup in 2014, having previously claimed British GT and Supercar Challenge titles alongside Glynn in 2011 and 2013 respectively.
“I tested the Ligier JS P3 at Snetterton and loved it,” said Jim. “It will be a new challenge for me racing prototypes when I’m so used to GT3 cars, but I’m looking forward to taking it on. The new British LMP3 series is great for drivers like me who have an ambition to race in the European Le Mans Series or even at Le Mans, but all at sensible set up and running costs.”
Glynn added: “I’m really looking forward to racing the Ligier JS P3. It’s a great car and we both loved testing it at Snetterton. I can’t wait to go racing again. The British LMP3 series will be a great first step on the journey to ELMS and hopefully the Le Mans 24 Hours.”
The LMP3 Cup Championship will get underway at Donington Park on April 22-23.
Track-club enters McLaren GT4 in Pirelli-backed British GTThe track-club team will enter a McLaren 570S GT4 into the British GT Championship this year for Adam Balon and Adam Mackay.
Track-club has competed in the series in the past, most recently at Spa in 2015 with Balon as one of its drivers. Last year Balon finished third in the Lotus Cup Supersport Championship, which Mackay won.
The 19-year-old Mackay was previously Scottish Formula Ford champion in 2015 as part of the Ecurie Ecosse Young Driver Programme, which also spawned Ciaran Haggerty and Sandy Mitchell, the drivers who took the McLaren GT4 to its first victories in the Pirelli-equipped series last season.
Their team boss Stephen Docherty said: “As a team they work well together – they spent the season competing against each other in a Lotus but, within the same team, from the outset they were sharing data and working on finding pace.
“Adam Mackay, is I believe, a really exciting prospect. His switch from single-seater to a ‘mini GT’ car was exceptional. Adam Balon is a very disciplined intelligent driver who rarely makes mistakes that compromise the car, and I think he’ll be one of the top amateurs in GT4.”
The British GT season will begin on April 15/17 at Donington Park.

The team’s racing director Trevor Carlin said: “Enaam was a great asset and addition to the team when he joined us for the Autumn Trophy last year, which he went on to win. His attitude towards getting the job done was great, he impressed with his natural ability in the car and also with his strong race craft.”
The BRDC British F3 campaign kicks off at Oulton Park on April 15/17.
Irish champion joins Pirelli-supplied F3 CupIrish single-seater champion Cian Carey will race in the Pirelli-supported F3 Cup this year with Chris Dittmann Racing.
Carey won the BOSS Ireland championship in 2016 driving a Formula Renault, and was recently named Motorsport Ireland Young Driver of the Year, receiving a 50,000 Euro prize fund.
"My plan for next year is to be on the pace right away and if at all possible winning races,” said the 22-year-old. “I feel I have the pace to do so and it will be brilliant with the support from my sponsors and Motorsport Ireland. I'm really excited to work with Chris Dittmann and the guys from CDR and hope we can all push each other on to aim for the Drivers' and Teams Championships."
Dittmann added: "Cian impressed in Monoposto, and has been beating cars in Ireland that have far more power than his. It's a great signing for us, and he'll be a key part in us trying to reclaim our Teams' Championship title. Together we should put him in a good position to fight for the Drivers' Championship."
The first round of the F3 Cup will be at Donington Park on April 22-23.
