NEW SHOW FOR CLASSIC COMPETITION ENTHUSIASTS - 2nd INTERNATIONAL HISTORIC MOTORSPORTSHOW STONELEIGH PARK, 25-27 FEBRUARY 2005

Following a superb series of 'classic' off-road showsat Kempton and Stoneleigh, trials and scramblesenthusiasts [and road racers, too] have latterly beenstarved of an annual show, despite continuous growthon the sporting side.

Ian Williamson (a former member of the Francis Barnetttrials squad) and his organising team are delighted toannounce that all forms of classic competition bikes,together with clubs and traders who support thesedisciplines, will be included within the second runningof the International Historic Motorsport Show. Asconfirmation of Ian's deep commitment, Jeff Smith MBE,Sammy Miller and John Surtees MBE - World Championsall - will 'open' the 2-wheel section of the Show onrespective days.

At 2004's inaugural Historic Motorsport Show, discerningvisitors were entranced by rows of 'open-wheel' racers,plus a wide selection of famous Monte Carlo Rally cars[and similar era saloon racers], alongside dozens ofunique engineering and restoration firms where, moreoften than not, the proprietor himself was in attendance.With over 15,000 visitors, this new three-day Show wasregarded as the best innovation within the over-hypedworld of 'Classic Shows' for many a long day!

However, one of the questions most frequently raised,was: "What chance of some bikes in 2005?"

Within a designated motorcycle area, commencing 25February, are numerous well-known classic worldcompetition habitués, including Rickman Motorcycles,Summerfield Engineering, Mick Hemmings, GeorgeBeale and others of similar reputation.

Supporting the engineering firms are numerousorganising clubs, covering trials, road racing, andscrambles, as well as the Vintage Motor Cycle Club.With a truly remarkable selection of competitionmachinery - including Jeff Smith's rebuilt BSAscrambler - the recently refurbished NationalMotorcycle Museum will host the Show's spectacularcentrepiece. And, between them, The Magazine Manand Mortons Media Group will cater for enthusiastson the literature side of things.

AWARD FOR THE BEST CLASSIC EVENT OF 2004

Already an integral part of the Historic MotorsportsShow is a selection of four-wheel classic & sportingawards, donated to specific events, companies, andindividual achievers.

Motorcycles are included for 2005, with submissionssought - and received - for The Best Classic Eventof 2004. Typical candidates include: The pre-'65Scottish 2-Day Trial (May), The Northwich Bike Fest(May), The Western Classic Bonanza (June), TheBritish Grand Prix Classic Scramble (August) and, inan unusual if very worthy submission, the re-openingof the National Motorcycle Museum (December). Theimpressive, and weighty bronze sculpture, which isretained by the winner, will be presented at theHistoric Motosports Awards Charity Dinner, atCheshunt Grange Hotel, on Saturday 26 February.
