Africa Eco Race reaches Dakar after 4000 gruelling kms

After a night under the starry sky of Senegal, the sun was not up yet when the competitors of the AFRICA ECO RACE 2019 embarked on the final connection to Niokhob, located not far from Dakar.

As is the tradition, it was on the beach that the competitors took the start of the final day of this 11th edition of the AFRICA ECO RACE. The Pink Lake welcomed competitors who managed to reach Dakar after more than 4 000km of specials. All participants had to leave the bivouac in the early morning to join the start of a final stage. After 229 kilometers of liaison, it wass on the beach at the edge of the Pink Lake that they started the final 22 kilometers before taking the podium.

This last day was celebrated in the middle of a crowd where the locals and the entourage of some competitors came to enjoy the show. Jean-Pierre Strugo and François Borsotto in cars, Alessandro Botturi in motorbike and Elisabete Jacinto, Jose Marques and Marco Cochinho in truck, were the winners of the 2019 edition

During the rally taking in Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal, the organizers were glad to welcome on the bivouacs representatives of the various administrative and sporting authorities of these three countries in order to discuss the next edition.

Jean-Louis SCHLESSER and his team are already able to announce that the 12th edition of the AFRICA ECO RACE will take place from 5th to the 19th of January 2020.

As usual, the race will be the link between Europe and Africa: the departure will be on Sunday 5th of January, followed by a ferry trip and 15 days racing through Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal to end at the famous Lac Rose.
